Cardi B becomes first female rapper with two diamond-certified songs

 

Multiple award-winning American rapper and songwriter, Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar professionally known as Cardi B, has reached yet another major milestone as her records get diamond certified.

The mother of two becomes the first female rapper in history to have two Recording Industry Association of America diamond-certified songs.

The RIAA award certifications are based on the number of albums and single sales. When a song or album is certified Diamond it means it has 10,000,000 sales and counting.

Before this achievement, Cardi B was the first female rapper to have a Diamond certification.

Her massively successful hit single ‘Bodak Yellow’ gave her the honor.

Shortly after, Nicki Minaj’s Super Bass was the second single by a female rapper to be diamond certified but it took about ten years to reach the prestigious honor.

Cardi B however, shares the second certification honor with Maroon 5 for “Girls Like You” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks.

Reacting to the good news, the songwriter said, ”Wow I got two Diamond records! Thank you sooo much @maroon5 for including me on this song and this is the song I cater to my daughter every time I perform it.I’m forever grateful.”
